Far Harbor does more than just increase the land you can cover, it provides new means of approaching threats, and a reason to put the guns down. It’s good to see an expansion actually expand on the game.

That’s not to say that there aren’t any awesome new guns in the DLC, but there’s something more visceral and fitting about badass melee weaponry. For Fallout 4 on the PlayStation 4, a GameFAQs message board topic titled Any chance for an Only Melee or No Guns Mod. Seeking out predators who would do harm to the last bastion of humanity on the coast, and killing massive sea creatures just wouldn’t feel right using the same old firearms that players have been using. With the game being set on an island and starting things off in a fishing town, hunting is built into the narrative. In 2281, Legate Lanius commented that the West would fall as the East fell and that all the land between would bear the mark of Legion. And it helps mold Far Harbor into something altogether different from Fallout 4’s original offerings. The main story of Fallout: New Vegas takes place in the year 2281. That effort to create something special for a weapon type that many avoid is commendable. It’s a piece of art that crushes anything in its path. Its glowing head, which oozes radiation, lets you know that this is not your typical run-of-the-mill weapon. This is a brand new weapon introduced to the game that is built for those who want nothing more than to roam the Wasteland as a tank. On top of this, there should be target-zone set-ups. What I really want to see is the ability to aim your melee attacks like with guns. However, its plain to see that VATS still prefers guns over melee range attacks, even in that title. When used properly, you can keep a group of bad guys off balance as you tear them to shreds all while laughing maniacally (laughter is optional).Īnother prime example is the Atom’s Judgement. Fallout: New Vegas added in new melee moves for weapons, and learn-able special attacks for the unarmed skill. It’s a Ripper that has been modified to stagger enemies. For the first time in the game, melee weapons, especially the Unique ones, are a viable option over the plethora of ranged weapons.
